A celebration to raise money for breast cancer awareness and resources for prevention for Women of Color in the Greater Philadelphia community. Festival goers receive fitness and nutritional advice, excercise demonstrations, educational presentations, clincial breast exams, and more!
About Our Bodies:
The best way to fight breast cancer is to detect the disease in its early stages. The Bebashi - Our Bodiesprogram enables clients to be proactive about their health by connecting uninsured and underinsured women to free clincial breast exams, presentations, and workshops.
The goal of Our Bodies is to increase awareness about the risks of breast cancer and the value of a mammogram and clinical breast examination and to change the screening behavior of low income Black/African-American Women and Women of Color, 40 years of age or older in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Through this program, we staff Breast Health Educators to provide outreach through various methods, such as participation in health fairs and other community events, flyer distribution to health and social service organizations, faith-based organizations, retail outlets, shelters and housing agencies.
